Percipience – DU Eminent Alumni Lecture on
“The Prime Minister: Over the Decades”
The University of Delhi organized the fourth lecture of PERCIPIENCE – The Eminent Alumni Lecture Series on “The Prime Minister: Over the Decades” by distinguished alumnus, Shri Shakti Sinha, Director, Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, on 23rd February, 2019 at 2.30 p.m. in the Conference Centre, University of Delhi. The lecture was presided over by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Tyagi.
The PERCIPIENCE lecture series aims to strengthen the continuing bond between the University and its huge universal diaspora alumni. Shri Shakti Sinha is an alumnus of University of Delhi and studied in Hindu College and Department of History. He was an Officer of the Indian Administrative Service and served as Private Secretary to the Late Prime Minister, Shri A.B. Vajpayee. He has been associated with several think tank groups in India and abroad as distinguished member.
Shri Sinha discussed in brief about all the Prime Ministers of India and deliberated about the parliamentary functioning under their regime. He mentioned that ours is a substantial democracy and the “Prime Minister as an institution that we know in this country is almost uniquely Indian”. He also said that “India has changed because of democracy and India too has changed democracy, Indianised it with its own unique characteristics”.
In addition to Faculty members and staff, students of the University of Delhi participated enthusiastically in the event and presented a cultural program.
