Dr. Narender Kumar is presently working as University Librarian and heading Delhi University Library System (DULS) consisting of 34 libraries. He started his career as an intern at American Centre, Delhi in 1985 and moved to British Council, Delhi where he served from 1985 to 1988. In Nov 1988 he joined as Librarian of Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies a prestigious college of University of Delhi. He was selected in an open selection as Deputy Librarian, University of Delhi in March 2006. He has been handling acquisition of electronic resources for University of Delhi since 2006.
Dr. Narender Kumar has also served Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi as Librarian in 2013-2014.
He has been life member of Indian Library Association and Asian Library Association and Secretary of Indian Library Association during 1999-2001.
He has contributed around 15 articles in national and international journals like Collection Building, Serial Librarians, etc. and edited four books. He has delivered lectures/invited talks at refresher courses, Orientation program, conferences, etc. He has more than 20 years experience of counseling IGNOU student for cataloguing and classification.
He was awarded doctorate in Library Science in 2001 by University of Delhi on the topic Growth and Development of Periodicals Literature in Indian Institute of Management Libraries. He did B.Lib.Sc. and Doc. from Rajasthan University and M.Lib. & Inf. Sc. From University of Delhi in 1983-84 and 1984-85 respectively. He has been award Best Librarian Award.
